A suspected rapist who took advantage of a drunk 16-year-old girl and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her, has been arrested.


The suspect, Gbenga Kolawole, 32, was caught in the act by one Sunday Ibrahim, both of whom live in the same area at Adubi, in Ewekoro, Ogun State, where the incident took place. 


The girl was said to had drank to stupor at a church annual anniversary held on November 6, and was taken to a nearby bar shop by her mother, who locked her up therein, apparently to relax until she regains her consciousness, 

while she went back to continue with the church programmer. 


It was in the course of this that the suspect messed the girl up, the aftermath of which was his exposure and the eventual lodgement of the complaint to the Police at Ewekoro Division by the aggrieved girl's mother. 


Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Omolola Odutola, said in a statement, that the victim was taken to hospital for treatment, and the suspect arrested for  preliminary investigation. 


In another development, a suspected car thief was arrested by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Sango-Otta, CSP Dahiru Saleh. 


The 55-year-old suspect, Alao James, was arrested in his hideout at ILO area of Otta, and a stolen blue colour Toyota RAV 4 SUV, marked MUS 580 JA, recovered from him. 


According to the Ogun State Police spokesperson, owner of the vehicle, Elogie Polycap, had reported to the Police at Gbagada that the vehicle was stolen from a car park in Gbagada area of Lagos by unknown thieves. 


His arrest, the PPRO said, was intelligence-based, adding that "All exhibits will be handed over to Gbagada Police Station, where the case originated".
