Residents of Simawa in the Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State today stormed the Headquarters of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company at Ring Road Ibadan.
Carrying different placards, the residents, dressed in black attrires bemoaned the poor services of IBEDC to the community which has led to throwing the community into darkness for three years.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Chief Kolade Segun-Okeowo, the Secretary of the Simawa Independent Power Project and the Aare Asoludero of Simawa said the community has made several appeals and entreaties to IBDEC to allow the community source for independent power since IBDEC has failed in three years to provide her with power.
Also addressing the protesters, Chairman of the Simawa Independent Power Project, Deacon Ezekiel Olaniyi Taiwo decried the attitude of IBDEC to the issue of light supply to Simawa and environs accusing IBDEC of double standards.
Highpoint of the peaceful protest was cutting of a black cake with the Inscription "IBEDC: 3 YEARS OF DARKNESS"
While the peaceful protest was going on, some staff of IBDEC approached the protesters and called for resolutions.
