Alleged threat: police looking into Tiwa Savage’s petition against Davido- PPRO

The Lagos police say they’re looking into the petition by Nigerian singer and songwriter Tiwa Savage over alleged bullying and threats to her life by Grammy nominee David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known on Wednesday in Lagos. I can confirm that we received the petition. We have begun investigation,” he said. NAN reports that Savage, in the petition dated January 9, addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Mr Adegoke Fayoade, accused Davido of uttering disrespectful words in reaction to a post that included herself and the singer’s baby mama, Sophia Momodu’s Instagram story.

The singer explained how she expressed disappointment at Davido’s threats and reminded him of how she stood by his family, especially when he lost his son.

She, however, claimed to have thereafter received calls from mutual connections seeking to know what she did to upset Davido and also questioning her relationship with Sophia.

The petition read in part, “I am writing to bring to your attention a distressing situation involving myself and Adeleke.

“On Dec. 23, I made a post which included myself and Sophia Momodu’s Instagram Story- a feature on Instagram which allows you to put up a post for twenty-four hours, and Adeleke sent messages to my manager who’s also part of his management team that I shouldn’t worry and should never say a word to him and that I was taunting him, uttering very đisrespectful, malicious and derogatory words to my person.

“I responded to Mr David Adeleke’s message and told him not to reach out to me, especially as I feel like I have been there for him and his daughter, Imade, and more importantly when he lost his son.”

Savage further said that the actions of Davido were unethical and can be viewed as a direct threat to her rights to life, privacy and dignity as guaranteed in Chapter 4 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), According to her, this is beginning to feel like some form of online and offline harassment not just to me but also members of my team.

“The actions of Mr David Adeleke are unethical and can be viewed as a direct threat to my rights to life, privacy and dignity of my person as guaranteed in Chapter 4 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).

“And are also in contravention of Section 24(2)(a) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015.

“I, therefore, would like to make this complaint, and to state that in the event that anything untoward or harmful were to happen to me or any member of my family, I will like the members of the Nigerian Police Force to hold Mr David Adeleje responsible.

“I am available to answer any questions or provide any additional information regarding this matter,” she said. (NAN)

Ijaduade: Ogun CP condemns shooting, visits actor in hospital

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Abiodun Alamutu, has paid a visit to Azeez Ijaduade, the actor who was reportedly shot by a policeman at Iperu, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State on Saturday night.

PUNCH Online reports that Alamutu arrived at the In-Patient Wards of the Babcock University Teaching Hospital around 11 am on Sunday.

He was ushered into the male surgical ward, where Ijaduade was admitted after the senior cop had listened to some colleagues of the victim.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with PUNCH Metro, Alamutu disclosed that the officer who fired the shot is already facing disciplinery actions.

According to him, the unnamed cop had fired a bullet into the air to disperse thugs who wanted to mob the personality he was attached to.

Alamutu, who said the shooting was unfortunate and uncalled for, expressed joy that the actor is in a stable condition. According to him, Ijaduade would be discharged after he had been certified okay by the doctors.

“It was actually an unfortunate incident, but from all indications, I have seen the victim, it was not a direct hit. Actually, some people were trying to mob the principal the policeman was attached with, in a bit to scare them off, he had to fire some shots. It was unfortunate the victim was within that axis. It was the shell that hit the victim.

“From all indications, he is getting better. The concerned policeman is already undergoing disciplinary procedure. What is important is for us to ensure that no life is lost.

“From what I’ve seen so far, he’s recuperating, only that he needs to be observed for some time to ensure that no vital part of his body is affected. From the way I see him, I believe none is affected. But that can only be certified by the medical experts,”

Alamutu said though there were times officers would need to fire shots to disperse crowds, he disclosed that this current one cannot be justified.

He noted that the officer involved did not display professionalism, saying that was why he would be made to face disciplinary actions.

Mr. Ibu’s two legs not amputated — Family

The family of comic actor, John Okafor, aka Mr. Ibu, has reacted to misconceptions surrounding Mr. Ibu’s health, revealing that the actor has not undergone amputation on both legs.

They clarified that the initial amputation proved insufficient to resolve his health challenges, which led to a subsequent amputation on the same leg.

The family also refuted claims attributing Mr. Ibu’s illness to diabetes, disclosing that the actor has been contending with clotting of the blood in his leg. This was contained in a statement on the actor’s Instagram page on Saturday, December 16. It reads, “We wish to express our sincere gratitude to well-meaning Nigerians and the general public for your immense contributions, physically, spiritually, and most above all financially on getting our daddy Mr John Okafor (Mr Ibu) back on his feet again.

“We wish to correct some misconceptions making rounds on social media concerning the current state of our father’s health.

“First, we would like to state that our daddy wasn’t amputated on both legs but only one. The first amputation didn’t completely correct his health predicament so the doctors had to go ahead to amputate the same leg further to ensure we didn’t lose him.

“Daddy’s cause of sickness is also not diabetes but he’s had constant clotting of the blood in his leg (diseased blood vessels) and other health challenges posing risk to his life, therefore the need for the amputation.

“Lastly, the only reason why the family has not flown him out of the country to date is that the doctors have tagged him ‘Not Fit to Fly’. “This tag has made it extremely impossible to get him out of the country for advanced treatment as no airline will fly him.

“Daddy is currently admitted at one of the biggest and best hospitals we’ve got in Nigeria as of today and the hospital has availed him a pool of very astute professionals.

“As Daddy is recuperating, we urge his friends, colleagues, fans, and Nigerians at large to keep him in their prayers and peddle down on unconfirmed reports concerning our dad’s health.

“Thank you Nigerians you all have been very supportive this period. God bless you all.”

Davido's Aide, Israel DMW, Announces Marriage Crash

Davido's Logistics Manager, Israel Afeare, popularly known as Israel DMW, shared news of the end of his marriage to his wife, Sheila, in an Instagram post on Saturday.

In his detailed account, Israel DMW revealed that Sheila left their home on August 8, 2023, despite his substantial support since their marriage.

Israel also detailed acts of generosity, such as providing financial support, upgrading her phone, and indulging in shopping sprees for her.

Despite these efforts, he described a shift in Sheila's behaviour after their wedding, where she sought to impose standards on him, believing she had achieved status as a prominent figure on Instagram.

Additionally, Israel DMW pointed out that marrying someone from a Christian background and being a virgin did not ensure peace in his case.

He highlighted that his wife accused him of being a  slave to his boss, Davido.

He said, "Marrying a lady because you met her during evangelism as a virgin, a pastor's daughter, a member of the same Winners Chapel church, might not guarantee anything peace at all. Don't be too eager or quick to trust people. People can change at any time.

"People can be very ungrateful and deceptive. I met Sheila on February 19, 2022. We became friends, which later became intimate.

"She told me she would only lose her virginity to the man that would marry her since her Ugep, Cross River, mother, who's now 41, had earlier married two different men, with two kids, before marrying her father and that she was overdue at 21 for marriage.

"We fully agreed with her terms and conditions. I immediately upgraded her unkept situation by giving her 300k and replacing her tattered phone of less than 60k with a new iPhone 12 Pro Max of 860k in less than two weeks.

"I later also replaced the 12 Pro Max with a brand 14 Pro Max of 1.2m that she uses to slay. I did a lot of shopping for her.

"Bought her clothes and bags, including expensive human hairs she's using without sleeping with her then. I later proposed, and she fully accepted. We later did a legal introduction to traditional and white weddings in Benin City.

"Sheila immediately changed by showing her authentic self after our wedding and wanting to set standards for me. She now felt she was blown as Juju's wife, fully verified on Instagram, with more followers from her earlier struggling 3k followers when I met her.

"A fully sapa girl I met with just 2,700 in her account. I have never raised my hands on her any day. I don't beat women at all. I respect them so much. The least money for her upkeep was 100k. She now wakes up to tell me that I derive dignity in begging my oga, that I am fully a slave, and that I am disgracing her on social media.

"I had earlier taken her to show same oga for the first time before we wedded when we were in Abuja Transcorp Hilton, and oga asked her straight forward if she was ready for marriage, and she fully answered by saying yes and oga immediately gave her 500k for airtime. Oga was fully present in Benin for my wedding, after cancelling a 140m show appearance. Oga,"

We’re yet to receive Mohbad’s autopsy report — Lagos Police.

The Lagos State Police Command says it has not received the autopsy report of the late musician Mohbad, which was completed 2 months ago.

It is already 2 months since the late singer, Mohbad’s body was exhumed & an autopsy conducted to determine the cause of the singer’s death.

After Mohbad’s demise on September 12 caused controversy both within & outside of Nigeria, the police formed an investigation team to find out the circumstances surrounding the musician’s death.

In response to a question regarding the release of Mohbad’s autopsy report, Hundeyin said the report had not yet been officially received by the command.

Hundeyin said, “The autopsy report has not been given to us. Some people have been carrying rumours that it’s ready.

It’s one thing for it to be ready, it’s another thing for it to be given to us officially – that we would receive and sign a copy that we have received it. So, we don’t work with rumours, we work with facts.”

We have informed Mohbad’s dad to come for his body but he insists on conducting DNA-Police

We have informed Mohbad’s dad to come for his body but he insists on conducting DNA-Police

The police in Lagos stated that Joseph Aloba, father of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad, hasn't applied to collect his son's corpse despite being informed he can do so anytime.

Mohbad's mother claimed in a video that the singer's body had been released to his father but he hadn't agreed for it to be reburied.

Investigation revealed that the police completed the autopsy and informed the father he could retrieve the body, but he hasn't initiated the process.

An anonymous police source confirmed to popular blogger, LIB that only the father can request the release of the corpse and assured immediate action upon application.

The father reportedly insists on a DNA test for the paternity of Mohbad's son, Liam, before claiming the body, causing a delay in the burial.

Mohbad was initially buried on September 13 but later exhumed due to public demand for an autopsy; the results haven't been disclosed, and reburial is pending due to the ongoing family dispute.

Nobody should carry Mohbad’s body without my consent — Father warns

Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba aka MohBad, has stated that nobody should collect his son’s body for burial without his authorisation.

He made this known in a video shared on TikTok on Sunday.

“When this boy was alive, he was my son. When he go, he still retained my name. Nobody should go there and take his body, please,” he warned.

The singer’s father added, “If they want to do anything there, I’ll be the one to authorise them. Nobody should go and carry MohBad’s body from there.”

This came after calls from singer Bella Shmurda and actress Tonto Dikeh, asking for the release of MohBad’s body for burial.

The singer died at 27 on September 12.

Angry fans slam Eagles poor performance against Zimbabwe

Following another unimpressive performance against Zimbabwe in the 2026 World Cup qualifier, some fans have once again slammed the Super Eagles labelling their display a shameful outing, The PUNCH reports.

Jose Peseiro’s men put up an underwhelming performance as they laboured to a 1-1 draw against the Warriors in the second game of the qualifiers.

The draw means the Eagles have just two points from a possible six points having drawn their first game against a lowly-ranked Lesotho side at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Thursday.

Peseiro made six changes from the side that drew to the Crocodiles with Nathan Tella making his debut for Nigeria while Ola Aina, Bruno Onyemaechi, Joe Aribo, Moses Simon, and Terem Moffi were all named in the Starting XI. The changes didn’t do much to change the fortune of the team as the Eagles failed to return to winning ways.

The Eagles were at the back foot unlike in their game against Lesotho where they were dominant but despite not being in total control they had a good chance to score in the 15th minute, but debutant Tella failed to conjure a good cross, and Zimbabwe cleared their lines.

Peseiro’s continuous faith in Francis Uzoho backfired after Walter Musona’s 35-yard free-kick beat the goalkeeper to hand the Warriors a lead in the 26th minute.

The goal gave Baltemar Brito’s side the needed confidence as they contained the Eagles threat limiting them to just two shots in the first 45 minutes.

At halftime, the Portuguese tactician made three changes, introducing Bright Osayi-Samuel, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Victor Boniface in place of Aina, Frank Onyeka, and Tella.

The three-time African champions thought they had won a penalty after Zimbabwean goalkeeper, Bernard Donovan, mishandled the ball in the box but the referee awarded an indirect freekick.

Iheanacho almost scored from that opportunity but the sea of yellow Zimbabwean jerseys stopped the ball from creeping into the net.

The Leicester City forward would not be denied his goal in the 67th minute in Butare.

Simon’s stout shielding of the ball and good decision in the box allowed Iheanacho to slam past the goalkeeper for Nigeria’s equaliser.

The Eagles couldn’t find the winning goal despite an additional nine minutes played after the regulation time as the Zimbabweans held their line very well to claim another one point. Reacting to the poor performance, some fans took to social media to slam the Eagles’ poor display on Sunday.

Content creator, Omotayo Of Lagos, wrote, “Zero shame and ambition, sack that your nonsense coach.”

David Simi added, “You guys are not ashamed, better sack that man called a coach.”

Sorochi Akawor rhetorically asked, “Una no get shame like this?”

Alagbe Samson believed that the Eagles could have lost the game had their opponents were more clinical.

He said, “Zimbabwe wasted some chances towards the end of the match, including an open net chance. The last match I remember against Zimbabwe was a 5-0 win at Abuja in Germany 2006 World Cup Qualifiers. Angola pipped Nigeria to the ticket on head-to-head rules. The coaching crew should prepare the team better for the next round of matches.”

Clement Mbanugo jokingly tweeted, “Calculator price will increase because of Super Eagles fans. Let me go and use my heart for something meaningful.”

Marriage is to enjoy, not endure - Ighalo’s estranged wife, Sonia spills why she left

Sonia Adesuwa, the estranged wife of Odion Jude Ighalo, has revealed what made her end her marriage with the former Super Eagles and Manchester United forward.

The mother of three made this known in a post on her Instagram page on Thursday and claimed that she left because she was tired of fighting and had to prioritise her children over her marriage.

Sonia also advised married women to become stronger self-advocates, while emphasizing that marriage is meant to be enjoyed, not endured.

Sonia wrote, "I also want to use this opportunity to encourage every woman out there. I read a few of your messages. Sis, let no one intimidate you, let no evil MIL control your home. Stand up for yourself and your children. Remember, Luke 10:19 says GOD has given us power to tread against scorpions and serpents.

"Be prayerful, trust me. If not for prayers and my boldness, I would have been forgotten by now. I chose to walk out of my marriage not because I was tired of fighting but because I chose my children over marriage. Remember, I got married at 19, and I invested so much in my marriage as a real African woman who would do anything to see her husband succeed.

"Flashback to when a famous Naija actress who married an Edo man came to the house in 2018. She called me aside and said, “Sonia, be very prayerful.

"Those who have the spirit to see beyond the physical would understand what she meant. I laughed, but within me, I said they cannot kill an ONLY CHILD who has an assignment on earth. I hear people saying she’s pained and broke bla bla bruh, go ask them, I was born with a SILVERSPOON."

She also revealed that she would open a platform to encourage women having issues with their marriage.

"I promise to open a platform in the future to help and encourage women who are going through hell in their marital home. They need to speak up. Remember, marriage is to enjoy, not to endure. Thanks once again for your kind words and prayers. God bless you all.”

Mohbad had died long before he was declared dead; Omowumi Aloba Mohbad wife said.

Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of 27-year-old deceased singer IleriOluwa Aloba alias Mohbad, told the Coroner Inquest sitting at Ikorodu on Tuesday that Mohbad had died long before he was declared dead due to past incidents of bullying, psychological trauma, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency arrest.

Mohbad’s widow testified that he died in his room on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, in the afternoon.

She said before his death, he had showered and wasn’t feeling okay, so he asked that they switch on the air conditioner in his room, but the AC wasn’t working, so they rushed him to the son’s room.

Omowunmi stated that she was in the kitchen while this was happening, adding that when she came out, she saw the nurse injecting him, and she heard Mohbad telling the nurse to remove the syringe.

She further told the coroner that it was at that point that they had to rush him to the hospital.

According to her, he was in the back seat of the car when the driver said his hands were already cold.

“Immediately I called a bike (motorcycle), OG, his friend, and Mohbad entered the bike, then I took another bike and went straight to the hospital.

“It was the doctor, nurses, the Disc Jokey, and Mohbad ‘s brother that were inside the room while I was outside, when they told me that he was dead, I said it was not possible because I still spoke to him 20 minutes ago and he said after his injection, he would take his son for five months photo shoot,” he said.

She also explained that before his death they went for a show on Monday, September 11, 2023, and they were about 10 people.

The widow of the singer added that she and their baby were inside the car waiting for Mohbad while he was performing and after his performance, Mohbad complained that he was tired and needed to go home, but that he was asked to wait for other artists to finish with their own performance and they waited for an hour.

Speaking on the fight that broke out in the car, she stated that Mohbad had an argument with his younger brother inside the car when Mohbad’s friend, Owodunni Ibrahim, also known as Prime Boy, said his younger brother couldn’t be the one who would disrespect him.

She added, “Prime Boy said he knew what he would have done, but Mohbad told Prime Boy that it was because they were outside and that if they were at home, he would have fought his brother.

“Prime Boy and Mohbad started fighting and I went to get his workers to come and separate them and by the time I came back, I met that people had separated them already.

“During the fight, Mohbad sustained a minor injury at his elbow when he hit the window of the car. The nurse who injected Mohbad has been treating him for two years.

“The nurse injected Mohbad on his shoulder. After the February 22, 2022, NDLEA incident, Mohbad became fearful and refused to go to the hospital because his head was hit with a gun, by NDLEA.

“I was beaten and pushed inside the gutter because I confronted and questioned the NDLEA why they harassed my husband. He was given substance by the NDLEA ever since then he has not been himself.”

She also told the coroner that after the NDLEA attack, he got paranoid he lost his memory up to the extent of forgetting his phone password.

The witness told Magistrate Sotobi Adedayo that people started saying that he was mad and became depressed.

According to her, after Mohbad’s death, she was not aware of where he was buried or even the mortuary and didn’t know anything after.

She further stated that they planned to kidnap Mohbad’s son.

Omowunmi said that she has been getting threats and has always been going out with a face mask because of the threat.

She said, “Mohbad wanted to fly his son to Canada, that was why he got a visa because he didn’t want his son Liam to clock one in Nigeria.”

Mohbad’s wife said he had always wanted his child to be given birth in Canada, but because they were not financially buoyant, he begged her to allow him to fly the child, to which she agreed.

BREAKING NEWS: Guinness World Record: Hilda Baci reacts as Irish chef breaks her record

Alan Fisher (Ireland), an owner and chef of a restaurant in Japan, has broken two cooking-related Guinness World Records titles. First up, he's claimed the longest cooking marathon (individual) after clocking in a time of 119 hours 57 minutes. That is more than 24 hours longer than the previous record held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci.

Alan then claimed the longest baking marathon (individual), with a time of 47 hours 21 minutes. The previous record holder was Wendy Sandner (USA) with a time of 31 hours 16 minutes.

What's even more impressive is that Alan took on both attempts back to back, meaning he was at work in the kitchen for over 160 hours with just over a day of rest in between.

Alan learned about the longest cooking marathon record in March while he was participating in the "I Love Ireland" festival in Tokyo. During this festival, Alan stood inside a rented kitchen car and stayed overnight twice.

During a break, he searched on the internet to find out that the record at the time was held by Lata Tondon (India) with a time of 87 hours 45 minutes. Then in May, Alan realized that Hilda Baci had extended the record to 93 hours and 11 minutes. Meanwhile, Alan was still trying to recover from the difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic. "When Omicron spread, a sudden dining out advisory from the local Government meant I lost all my reservations for the month of July 2022 and needed to take out a pandemic support loan just to pay bills," he said.

"I was broke and heartbroken. To have worked so hard for so long, to give up your own savings, your own salary and then still need a loan simply to stay in business with no guarantee things will recover. That was a tough pill to swallow."

Despite the recent easing of restrictions, Alan continued to carry this negative energy as he continued with his work. "Lata and Hilda's achievements served as an inspiration," he said. In order to channel his frustration and negativity into something positive, Alan decided to take on the record-breaking journey himself.

The record attempt proved to be extremely challenging, even during the preparation phase. In particular, Alan had to make a food distribution plan so that there would be no wastage of the food he cooked. "Everything must be for human consumption. My attempt would only be successful if the people of Matsue got behind what I was doing and showed up to support the challenge."

In addition, Alan needed to film the record his attempt for evidence. He was thankful that TSK, the local TV provider, came to help. "I know that they needed to allocate staff and resources to support this challenge. This costs time and money and is definitely not lost on me. I’m incredibly grateful to them." During the record attempt, Alan had to overcome different types of obstacles as time went by. During the longest baking marathon (individual) record attempt, it was his back that caused him trouble. Because Alan was mixing dough by hand, his posture got distorted, and as a result, his back got tight and sore.

Towards the end of the longest cooking marathon (individual) record attempt, Alan had to endure fatigue and sleepiness. "I peeled roughly 300 kg of potatoes during the cooking marathon. For the first few days, I would look forward to this each evening as it gave me a chance to sit down."

"Towards the end of the cooking marathon however, as fatigue started to take hold I would find it more and more difficult to stay awake whenever I sat down to start peeling. The rhythm of the peeling would almost hypnotize me. I had one hallucination on the second-to-last day. I turned to ask someone to pass me something, like I would on any normal day only to realize there was no one there."Despite the challenges, Alan says it was the people of the town who supported his record attempt who gave him the push to carry on.

"It got to the point where I definitely couldn’t give up. In my mind, I was representing myself, my family, and Irish food, and through these attempts, I was sharing our story. As time went by it became clear that many people in Matsue were also wishing me well. As if I had been adopted into this community over 9,000 km from my home. How could I not persevere? That was the only option."

After nine days of baking and cooking, Alan had made 357 kg worth of soda bread and 590 kg worth of dishes (3,360 portions consisting of 32 recipes). But it was all worth it when he received his two world record certificates.
