Alleged threat: police looking into Tiwa Savage’s petition against Davido- PPRO

The Lagos police say they’re looking into the petition by Nigerian singer and songwriter Tiwa Savage over alleged bullying and threats to her life by Grammy nominee David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known on Wednesday in Lagos. I can confirm that we received the petition. We have begun investigation,” he said. NAN reports that Savage, in the petition dated January 9, addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Mr Adegoke Fayoade, accused Davido of uttering disrespectful words in reaction to a post that included herself and the singer’s baby mama, Sophia Momodu’s Instagram story.

The singer explained how she expressed disappointment at Davido’s threats and reminded him of how she stood by his family, especially when he lost his son.

She, however, claimed to have thereafter received calls from mutual connections seeking to know what she did to upset Davido and also questioning her relationship with Sophia.

The petition read in part, “I am writing to bring to your attention a distressing situation involving myself and Adeleke.

“On Dec. 23, I made a post which included myself and Sophia Momodu’s Instagram Story- a feature on Instagram which allows you to put up a post for twenty-four hours, and Adeleke sent messages to my manager who’s also part of his management team that I shouldn’t worry and should never say a word to him and that I was taunting him, uttering very đisrespectful, malicious and derogatory words to my person.

“I responded to Mr David Adeleke’s message and told him not to reach out to me, especially as I feel like I have been there for him and his daughter, Imade, and more importantly when he lost his son.”

Savage further said that the actions of Davido were unethical and can be viewed as a direct threat to her rights to life, privacy and dignity as guaranteed in Chapter 4 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), According to her, this is beginning to feel like some form of online and offline harassment not just to me but also members of my team.

“The actions of Mr David Adeleke are unethical and can be viewed as a direct threat to my rights to life, privacy and dignity of my person as guaranteed in Chapter 4 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).

“And are also in contravention of Section 24(2)(a) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015.

“I, therefore, would like to make this complaint, and to state that in the event that anything untoward or harmful were to happen to me or any member of my family, I will like the members of the Nigerian Police Force to hold Mr David Adeleje responsible.

“I am available to answer any questions or provide any additional information regarding this matter,” she said. (NAN)

Ijaduade: Ogun CP condemns shooting, visits actor in hospital

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Abiodun Alamutu, has paid a visit to Azeez Ijaduade, the actor who was reportedly shot by a policeman at Iperu, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State on Saturday night.

PUNCH Online reports that Alamutu arrived at the In-Patient Wards of the Babcock University Teaching Hospital around 11 am on Sunday.

He was ushered into the male surgical ward, where Ijaduade was admitted after the senior cop had listened to some colleagues of the victim.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with PUNCH Metro, Alamutu disclosed that the officer who fired the shot is already facing disciplinery actions.

According to him, the unnamed cop had fired a bullet into the air to disperse thugs who wanted to mob the personality he was attached to.

Alamutu, who said the shooting was unfortunate and uncalled for, expressed joy that the actor is in a stable condition. According to him, Ijaduade would be discharged after he had been certified okay by the doctors.

“It was actually an unfortunate incident, but from all indications, I have seen the victim, it was not a direct hit. Actually, some people were trying to mob the principal the policeman was attached with, in a bit to scare them off, he had to fire some shots. It was unfortunate the victim was within that axis. It was the shell that hit the victim.

“From all indications, he is getting better. The concerned policeman is already undergoing disciplinary procedure. What is important is for us to ensure that no life is lost.

“From what I’ve seen so far, he’s recuperating, only that he needs to be observed for some time to ensure that no vital part of his body is affected. From the way I see him, I believe none is affected. But that can only be certified by the medical experts,”

Alamutu said though there were times officers would need to fire shots to disperse crowds, he disclosed that this current one cannot be justified.

He noted that the officer involved did not display professionalism, saying that was why he would be made to face disciplinary actions.

Mr. Ibu’s two legs not amputated — Family

The family of comic actor, John Okafor, aka Mr. Ibu, has reacted to misconceptions surrounding Mr. Ibu’s health, revealing that the actor has not undergone amputation on both legs.

They clarified that the initial amputation proved insufficient to resolve his health challenges, which led to a subsequent amputation on the same leg.

The family also refuted claims attributing Mr. Ibu’s illness to diabetes, disclosing that the actor has been contending with clotting of the blood in his leg. This was contained in a statement on the actor’s Instagram page on Saturday, December 16. It reads, “We wish to express our sincere gratitude to well-meaning Nigerians and the general public for your immense contributions, physically, spiritually, and most above all financially on getting our daddy Mr John Okafor (Mr Ibu) back on his feet again.

“We wish to correct some misconceptions making rounds on social media concerning the current state of our father’s health.

“First, we would like to state that our daddy wasn’t amputated on both legs but only one. The first amputation didn’t completely correct his health predicament so the doctors had to go ahead to amputate the same leg further to ensure we didn’t lose him.

“Daddy’s cause of sickness is also not diabetes but he’s had constant clotting of the blood in his leg (diseased blood vessels) and other health challenges posing risk to his life, therefore the need for the amputation.

“Lastly, the only reason why the family has not flown him out of the country to date is that the doctors have tagged him ‘Not Fit to Fly’. “This tag has made it extremely impossible to get him out of the country for advanced treatment as no airline will fly him.

“Daddy is currently admitted at one of the biggest and best hospitals we’ve got in Nigeria as of today and the hospital has availed him a pool of very astute professionals.

“As Daddy is recuperating, we urge his friends, colleagues, fans, and Nigerians at large to keep him in their prayers and peddle down on unconfirmed reports concerning our dad’s health.

“Thank you Nigerians you all have been very supportive this period. God bless you all.”
