7 Reasons Your Boobs Hurt

And how to deal with this super-annoying soreness.

Subscribe
When your girls get tender and don't-touch-me sore, yes, it's annoying, but it's generally no cause for concern. Here's a look at several common (read normal) reasons your girls may be screaming out, and how to give them some much-needed TLC.

You're PMSing
The most common cause of breast pain is a change in hormones that comes along with your period. This normal body response to shifts in estrogen typically manifests in swelling and tenderness on the day before your period begins and the first day of your flow, says Taraneh Shirazian, M.D., assistant professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. This type of boob soreness is called cyclic pain, since it's related to your menstrual cycle. The good news: It should go away when your period ends. Birth control pills can help, says Shirazian, since they prevent ovulation and keep estrogen levels stable. And if you'd rather the skip the OTC pain reliever, primrose oil supplements may also ease soreness, she says.

You're Upping Your Workouts
Maybe you did an impressive round of pushups or dove into a serious new weight-lifting routine. This may seem like breast pain, but the discomfort actually stems from the muscles underneath the breasts. "There are the pectoral muscles there," explains Shirazian, and this set of muscles lying right under the breast tissue tightening and relaxing is actually the source of this tenderness. Get relief by applying heating pads and taking a pain reliever as directed, suggests Shirazian.

You Pulled Something
So maybe you haven't been hitting the gym harder, but were your lifting furniture or heavy bags that may have strained those pectoral muscles? If so, that soreness might actually be coming from the muscles underneath your breast tissue again, says Shirazian. You can treat it the same way you would above, with heat or OTC pain relievers.

Your Bra Doesn't Fit Properly
The wrong lingerie can have pretty serious consequences for your chest. If your bra is too tight or the cup is too small, the underwire may be pushing against your breast (All. Day. Long.), leading to sore boobs, says Shirazian. And if you're not supported enough, all that up-down-and-all-around movement throughout the day can lead to breast tenderness. Use these tips to find a bra that fits.

Your Sweat Session Lacks Support
Especially if your breasts are larger, it's crucial to get the proper support when exercising to keep those babies from bouncing all around and pulling on the breast tissue, says Shirazian. In fact, a recent study found that one in three marathon runners report breast pain. To remedy this, get fitted for a proper sports bra and make sure that nothing is digging in, spilling over, or not fitting perfectly when you jump around in the fitting room.

You Have Lumpy Breasts
If you've been identified as a women with lumpy breast tissue (technically known as fibrocystic breast tissue), then you are probably well acquainted with breast tenderness linked to your menstrual cycle. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, this bumpy, uneven breast tissue is actually characterized by fluid-filled cysts, and it's not necessarily linked to breast cancer. However, they may be more sensitive to hormonal changes.

You're Taking in Too Many Lattes
While coffee and tea may not directly cause breast pain, some studieshave shown that cutting out caffeine can help alleviate discomfort, especially for women with fibrocycstic breast tissue. If your breasts feel particularly lumpy and you've got a three-cup-a-day habit, ask your doctor if you should consider cutting down.

In general, temporary breast soreness and sensitivity shouldn't raise any red flags, nor should it send you running to the doctor's office. It usually just lasts a few days then vanishes from thin air. In the unlikely event that the pain lingers around or gets worse, then it's time to see your physician. Also, be in the habit of regularly giving your breasts the once-over to make sure there aren't any changes in appearance, texture, or tenderness. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, bring it up with your doctor

Confession Of A Frustrated Lagos Based Housewife-“I Did This Since He Could Not Sexually Satisfy Me”
Image result for rape scene

I am Evelyn, a lagos Based housewife and I have a very special issue that needs to be dealt with urgently, it is about to ruin my marriage of over 8 years. I and my husband had a very beautiful life together, but that was until two years into our marriage, just after we had our first and only child.`

Danny as I fondly call him had lost his job then and would not have me work, he said it was his duty to provide for his family and believed that our child would need all my attention. I used to be a marketer at one of the leading banks, while he worked with an oil firm but was retrenched due to certain unclear circumstances. The quest for a job took a toll on my husband because we had debts to offset, so many bills left unpaid.

During that period, Danny will go out very early only to come back very late at night. The time spent however, did not reflect on our economic status. We were not begging but we could tell that the family was digging too deep into its reserves. After about a year and no serious job forthcoming, Danny decided he would go into a business of his own. He started a business with the little we had saved over the years, he gave it his all, time, body and soul.

Danny could be very determined and that was the spirit he put into the business, however, it was our home that suffered the brunt. Gradually I began to feel the detachment from him, he was more connected with making the business boom, there was little or no time for me and my little boy. Our sex life was almost dead and when we did have anything intimate it was shabby at best.

He gave numerous excuses of why his performance had drastically come to an all time low, from business thoughts to the Lagos stress that is always tied to the ever present gridlocks for no just cause. I cried severally because i was starved not just of both love and s/.ex, perhaps you might think I am vain but please don’t judge me till you have walked a mile in my shoes.

Danny could not hold his own for even five minutes, no sooner than he gets in and the milk is spilt. He said he had tried several things but they just don’t work. For months and then over a year, things continued the same way. After a while, I gave up totally, resigning to fate.

Good thing is, the business started to grown miraculously, but the more it grew, the distant my husband became from me. There was no day without a meeting, the weekends were spent virtually at his business place, only on rare occasions did I and my son go visiting there.

I was idle, and perhaps that was the avenue for certain things to happen, things I am not so proud to mention. The most crazy of all that I began to indulge in, is basically living on socio-media. While I bore my heart in subtle Tweets and Facebook posts, I wore a hypocritical look on Instagram. My photos bearing faked smiles, hid my inner torment, but there was this guy who could read between the lines, he introduced himself to me as George. He was about 10 years younger than myself and twenty years younger than my husband. But he was smart and witty, I was caught off-guard. George made me pour my heart to him in such a way that I felt exposed, and before I could blink, we were dating.

From internet chats we advanced to calls and texts, before I knew it, I was inviting this young man into my matrimonial home. He was young but George sure did know how to treat a lady, there was never a boring moment with him, as his wits exuded effortlessly. Soon I was almost forgetting that I had a husband, it was more like living with yet another flat mate, as all we did whenever my husband got back from work was brief chats (boring) and off to bed.

Whenever he got into his room to sleep, I got talking with George under the guise of staying with my tender son. We would do all sorts of crazy stuffs over the phone and I felt like a teenager again. Please don’t blame me at all as my body is not a stone.

The first day I and George made love, it stirred a wild passion in me and I could not get enough of him. I would invite him over on certain weekends, we would meet up at his place on other days. One faithful day after making fun I used woman trick to know what he is using to satisfied me for 40 minutes with his big rod because I won’t lie to you I always scream ‘is enough, please am satisfied’ but this guy rod doesn’t get tired. Thank God George revealed his secret to me and I quickly try to find George’s big rod and 40 minutes performance secret.

Immediately I got it, I dropped George because I still love my husband and I believe that he can do better too with this secret.

(Read Testimonials Of Other Men) Few days after, my husband birthday came up and I presented him a gift. You care to know the kind of gift that I presented to my husband? Hmm! I presented George big rod and 40 minutes performance secret, my husband asked me what it is though and I explained to him that my friend’s husband is using it to satisfied her and that is the secret of their happy home.  My husband applied the secret gift same day, we made love that night and his performance was improved a little bit because i enjoyed it though.

Guess what? The fifth day my husband started applying this gift, Our marriage started smoothing till today. Will you like to discover the George’s secret that saved my marriage from cheating my husband? Mind you this frustration used to make all woman to take wrong step without letting their husband knows just like me.

You need to hear from this expert himself whom i found that has the same secret on how he got cured finally without any side effect, plus his own special story on how he became an expert in this field

A 60-year-old man, identified as Emma Ukwa, has been arrested by a vigilance group at Amaekpu Ohafia, in the Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State for allegedly raping and killing a 36-year-old woman.
A source told our correspondent that Ukwa, who raped his victim, identified only as Josephine, in a farm in the area on Friday, allegedly mocked the woman for being a virgin after defiling her.
The source said, “Ukwa confessed to have developed a lust for the lady after seeing her half naked while taking her bath in the village stream.
“Ukwa said he only wanted to have sex with the victim, but later killed her when she insisted that she would expose him.”
It was gathered that Ukwa was exposed when a friend of the deceased went to the farm to find out what kept her back for a long time, but found her lifeless body there.
“The friend had met Ukwa on the way before seeing the victim’s corpse. She came back and raised the alarm, prompting the Amaekpu Ohafia Vigilance Group to arrest Ukwa,” the source added.
The Chairman of the vigilance group, Mr. Godwin Anya, said women of the community had staged a peaceful protest to condemn the act.
“The suspect has been handed over to the police,” he added
Efforts made to contact the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nta Ogbonaya, proved abortive as calls put across to his mobile phone indicated that it was not reachable as of press time.
Her husband keeps pressuring her to have more sex

Sexual intimacy is an important part of any relationship. We all crave to be with someone who understands our sexual needs and is willing to provide them. But what happens when your sexual needs and drive become incompatible? What if your partner asks for more than you can give? This woman is tired of her husband pushing her to have sex and she needs your help.

“I’ve been married for more than two years and have two sons. Overall, I’ve had a happy marriage except we argue about the frequency of sex. He wants sex every day, sometimes more than once. If I fall asleep first, he wakes me and we fight until the early hours so I end up dragging myself into it to avoid quarrels.

I asked to change the frequency to once a week but we have settled on alternate nights, which he is still not happy with. He says I am compromising his sexual needs but surely pushing a wife into having sex through such means is inconsiderate, immoral and illegal?“

Why Nigerian ladies die for men with big penis
Image result for big penis

I am sure you already know that Nigerian Ladies prefer large penises to small or average penises. Of course so many men like you have moved on from the mindset of wondering if penis size matters, because we all it know it does. No matter how many sayings or clichés are phrased to console men that penis size does not matter, the truth is that if a Nigerian Ladies was to choose between two men who meet the standards she like in every area except one has an average penis and one has a big penis, all Nigerian ladies on the face of this planet would choose the man with the larger genitals. Why this preference for a bigger penis? Well a bigger penis has a lot more benefits during sex than an average one; let me explain a little bit. The main reason why Nigerian women love large penises (especially those who have had lovers that are well endowed) has to do with the structure of the vagina. There are pleasure centers that are located deep into the vagina and around the walls of the vagina. A small or average penis is not capable of stimulating all these pleasure centers and these usually results in a woman not being fully satisfied. But a big penis is able to explore deep into a woman’s vagina give her that lovely feeling of both deep penetration and being completely “full”. A large number of women need to have their clitoris stimulated during sexual intercourse in order for them to achieve orgasms. A large penis is more capable of stimulating the clitoris during penetration because of the thick base, which would stretch the vaginal lips and provide friction between the penis shaft and the clitoris. Ok guys, getting a bigger penis and satisfying your woman sexually is not rocket science. If you click here right now, I will teach you how you can make your manhood bigger, thicker, larger and stronger to satisfy any woman in the bedroom.

The first reason why Nigerian Ladies love large penis is very obvious, basically it just has to do with sight. A bigger penis is more pleasing to the eye than a small or average penis. Most Nigerian women say that an erect big penis is a lot sexier and aesthetically pleasing than a small penis. Even though most men would argue that for women arousal is dependent more on touching and caressing, the truth is just like men, women are also aroused by sight. For women just the sight of an erect big penis is enough to make them go into overdrive. Another reason why Nigerian Ladies love large penises is also similar to the first reason. For women the sight of an erect big penis makes her open to achieving multiple orgasms during sexual intercourse because of the excitement it gives. One thing that is important in enabling Nigerian women to achieve orgasms is their level of arousal. And one advantage men with bigger penises have is that due to massive size of their genitals their lover’s vagina is already wet before foreplay begins. This situation makes it easier for Nigerian ladies to achieve orgasms after orgasms. One interesting to note is that most women are more patient with men with big penises than men with average penis sizes.

Did you know that men with large penises are usually very confident in bed? Of course you knew that. This is one thing that Nigerian women notice about well-endowed men. For men with small or average penises they constantly worry about whether they are big enough for their lover, this state of mind gives you less time think about what you woman really wants during sex because you are constantly warring if she is feeling you. The more confident and comfortable a man is the better it would be for him to satisfy his lover in bed. Were you born with a small or average penis size? Are you looking for a safe and affordable way of enlarging your penis size? Would you like see a big penis swing between your legs everyday? Guess what? It is very much possible to increase your penis size without having to spend a fortune. All you need is is just one natural solution which you can find here. Now you can understand why Nigerian women love having sex with a man with a thick and long penis, but are you wondering how you can get the penis size most women would ogle at? If you are, then you are in luck as there are safer methods of penis enhancement that do not involve undergoing surgery. Penis enlargement pump is your best options in increasing your penis size. You must use it in order to achieve your desired penis size in the shortest possible time and for your gains to be permanent

PROBLEMS OF OUR LEARNING PERCEPTION: THE FINLAND EXAMPLE
Image result for finland education

Finland is ranked No.1 in the world in Education. What’s so great there!

• A child goes to school there only at the age of 7. The torture does not start at 2 ½ as it is elsewhere.
• A child learns from each move that it comes across in this early age at home.
• From the age of 7 to 10 the child spends 50% of it’s time in school and the remaining as vacation.
• The school timings are also less and equal importance is given to Music, Arts and Sports too
• The schools there have relaxation rooms for the children to take rest if they feel tired.
• Until the age of 13 there is no grading and no report cards for students.
• If their parents are inquisitive of the child’s progress they can apply to know that.
• Since there is no grading there is no pressure on the student to compete.
• They are not given homework. Students can do their homework in the subject of their choice.
• A doctor stationed in each school monitors their health and advices.
• Only a maximum of 600 students are permitted in a school.
• There aren’t any private schools. All are Govt. run. There is equality in education for all.
• 99% of children in Finland get primary education.
• Students who hail from a country where there aren’t exams excel in competitive exams elsewhere.
• You may wonder how this is possible. A UN research explains this…..
• UN does an annual research about the happiest children in the world. Finland stands first.
• Educationists from other countries flock to Finland to understand their system more.
• 1500 representatives from 56 countries go there every year.
• The country’s major foreign exchange comes from education tourism.
• A teachers job in Finland is highly valued .
• The teachers there have a major stake in the laws and policies of the country.
• Every third child there wants to become a teacher. But it’s not so easy.
• Only students who excel are considered for this post.
• They are given 5 years of Teacher Training, 6 months of Military training, One year of onsite teacher training, Training in the Laws and Policies, Fire service, Self Defense, First Aid.
No wonder the Crime rate is so low in Finland.
Good upbringing breeds responsible Adults.
Thoughts to ponder:
• Don’t find fault in children. Don’t hesitate to appreciate when they do good.
• No one knows what a child can become. Keep encouraging them.
• Edison was considered dumb and thrown out of school.
• Louis Pasteur was an average student in school.
• Einstein was considered an idiot in school.
• Talk to children daily about their goodness.
• Don’t compare a child with another.
• Talk about successful people to them.
• Instead of telling them how not to be, just tell them about how to be.
• Don’t curb them to the house
• Give them good examples and independence.
• If you talk to them about a bed of flower they’ll understand the path of thorns.
• Tell them about hardwork. They will get to know about laziness.
• When you tell them about successful people they will understand the reasons for failure.
And for all these, we need good parenting and good governance.

3 ways to give your husband good head
Marriage is just like any other relationship. It needs love, care, support, unity and even sex to make it last. All factors of a relationship should be included for it to be strong. Sex is the one factor some couples get shy with. The fact is, men like head and always will. If you are a lady who is open to giving head, this should not end in your marriage.

Sex in marriage should be spontaneous, exciting and adventurous. Giving your husband head can be fun for you too and not just a tedious chore. Giving him head in the morning is a good way to switch it up, especially if he has his ‘morning wood’. here are three ways to surprise him with fantastic morning head:

 1. Don’t be afraid to go deep

head 33

When you give head, you can switch it up a bit. Use your normal technique that is successful and include deep throat as well. Keep pushing and controlling your gag reflex till you take all of your husband’s manhood in. He will love every bit of it.

2. Use your tongue

head 22

Your tongue can work wonders. Use it to go around your husband’s manhood and find out his most sensitive areas. If you mouth gets weak, your tongue can work its magic while your mouth rests. He will go crazy, trust us.

3. Add your hands

head 11

If you are using your mouth, tongue and hands, you will give your husband the best experience. Imagine him waking up to an intense head session from you. My dear, if you ask for the world after, you will get it.

The only time he comes home is when he wants to eat and have sex —Wife •It’s sad she is never content with anything that I do —Husband
A woman, Mrs. Bodunrin Ajayi has asked an Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos State, to end her marriage to her husband, Ifedayo, citing irreconcilable differences.

The mother of three sought the divorce on the grounds that her husband was irresponsible, uncaring and fond of beating her.
“He is hardly around. All he does everyday is drink ogogoro and play draft with his friends. The only time he comes home is when he wants to eat and have sex with me.
“I have reported him to his family members but they take sides with him telling me that it is a man’s world. I struggle to feed and clothe my children.
“He almost raped me sometime last month because when he said that we should have sex, I maintained my stand that I was hungry and tired. He beat me, tore my clothes and almost raped me when my first son who is thirteen years old, raised the alarm. I am tired of being treated badly, and I want an end to this marriage,” Bodunrin maintained.
Her estranged husband, however, denied all the allegations calling his wife a liar in the court. He added that he had never failed to pay his children’s school fees.
He also said that he tried to assure his wife that he would try to work harder but she was bent on leaving him.
“Ask her, who registered the children in primary school. I am a responsible father and I ensure that my children have the best that I can offer. I have always taken care of her but it is sad that she is never content with anything that I do,” he told the court.
Ifedayo also told the court that he has never beaten Bodunrin before, adding that he retaliated once when she first slapped him.
“How can I just decide to start beating my wife when she is not an animal. My wife is quarrelsome and does not listen to me at all. She is always bent on doing what she wants. When she withdrew the children form public school to a private one, I told her that I could not afford it but she still went ahead and started telling everyone who cares to listen that I am an irresponsible father. I am rather hurt and embarrassed by her utterances. I do not pray for the dissolution of this marriage as I still love my wife and children,” he said.

He smelt my pant anytime I came back from a journey —Wife
A woman, Dasola Adeosun, has pleaded with Ile Tuntun Customary Court, Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Oyo State, to put an end to her union with her husband, Taiwo, whom she alleged on several occasions had attempted to use their only two-year-old child for money rituals and that he used to smell her pants and fingers her each time she travelled to check whether she had slept with another man.

“My husband married me about three and a half years ago as a virgin and we gave birth to a child who is two-year-old, Emmanuel. We’ve separated for about one and a half years and he has not been responsible for our welfare. Whenever he beats me, he either takes me to the hospital for treatment by himself or calls a nurse to come and set a drip for me in the house. I’ve tried to endure his excesses but it seems my patience does not pay any longer

“After delivering my baby, he insisted on taking the child to his family house where unfortunately, my things were set on fire when a stick of matches was lit and thrown into my room through a window. It was after that incident that he told me he was taking the child to Lagos for money rituals. He took this step twice but he returned to me with the baby that he was told the child was not useful.

“Each time I asked him to give me money to take care of our child, he would say: “the child is not useful for me,” and since then I’ve been doing what I could for the child. I can’t dispute the fact that his sisters brought golden morn and milk for the child every month since he started feeding on them but it’s not enough.
“He paid no dowry on me before we became husband and wife because I was the one who ran,” Dasola told the court.

The defendant, Taiwo, denied the allegations. He said that his wife is promiscuous and stubborn.
“I observed that each time I go to my shop, my wife calls other men. She even uses my phone sometimes to make calls. I’ve tried to stop her but she’s been adamant.
“She’s stubborn, disobedient and wayward. Shortly after our marriage, we had a quarrel and she slapped me.”
The court, however, asked Taiwo if he ever beat his wife and what step his parents took.  He replied ‘I never beat her once.’ Dasola, however, opened up to the court that although Taiwo’s father has been intervening in their affairs since they got married, he withdrew at the point of provocation from his son. She said that Taiwo takes advantage of his father’s old age and opposes him each time he tries to make peace between them and that his mother is dead.
Not satisfied with his wife’s submissions, Taiwo said: “I’ve made a mistake getting married to you.”
President of the court, Chief Agbaje Henry Olasunkanmi, after listening to the couple, told them to bring their family members and the child, Emmanuel to the court on November 11 for judgement.
I want to run for my dear life; I don’t want to die now —Wife
After several adjournments for a possible settlement between Odunola Kuforiji and her husband, Sulaimon have failed, aCGrade ‘C’ Customary, Inalende, Mokola, Oyo State, has dissolved their marriage.

Image result for I want to run for my dear life;
When asked by the court for the last time what their resolutions were after the adjournments, the plaintiff, Odunola, said, “although, some elders got involved in settling the dispute between us, I’m not interested in him anymore. I want to run for my dear life; I don’t want to die now.

The defendant responded to his wife’s charges with a head shake and asked his wife: “Do you remember where we both started?” But the wife did not give an answer.
Sulaimon, however, told the court that he is not interested in the dissolution of their marriage because he has no sin to count against his wife. “I just know that God will judge both of us and keep our children,” he exclaimed.
Again, the court asked the husband what the outcome of the meeting the said elder was. “Our families tried but it’s not working out,” he said. At this point, the wife spoke, “the reason we cannot remain husband and wife is best known to me. It’s not that I cannot talk about the whole thing, but I just desire each person go his or her way. May God keep us and give us grace to carry out our responsibilities as parents whenever the need arises,” Odunola told the court.
Having listened to both parties on oath in which none of them could give any tangible reason necessitating divorce, the acting president of the court, Mr Dauda Babatunde, said: “where there is no love, there can’t be progress. This court sees that their house has broken down irreparably while their reason of divorce is best known to them. The marriage between the plaintiff and the defendant is hereby dissolved forthwith. Defendant should take care of the children.”

Introduction: The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli

I read and reviewed The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli which was written over five hundred years ago. And, it always amazes me how some books that are timeless classics are still relevant today. The Prince is one such book. I firmly believe we can use some of yesterday’s ideas to solve today’s problems if we step back in time and take a look at some of those classics. For those who like videos, I’ve found some YouTube Videos created by AntiGroupThink, which I have included.
After you read The Prince for yourself, or at the very least watch the five short YouTube videos, ask and answer the following three questions:
  1. Does the end ever justify the means? And if yes, in what situations?
  2. How do you get power and how do you keep it?
  3. Is power the end all and be all?

What is The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli About?

Niccolo Machiavelli worked in politics from 1498 to 1512, but his political career ended in shame, with him being arrested and imprisoned for 22 days. Machiavelli refers to Lorenzo Medici as the Prince. In his forced absence from politics, Machiavelli wrote The Prince hoping that given his republican credentials, he would be re-employed with the Medicis, thus returning to a position of power.
prince machiavelli niccolo, niccolo machiavelli prince, book Prince Machiavelli,The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli, book Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli,Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli, summary
The Prince was written nearly 500 years ago, but some of the ideas are still relevant today. In The Prince, Machiavelli deals with the rise and fall of states, and the measures that a leader can take to ensure the states’ continued existence. The author’s focus is on how societies actually work. The book is very technical, and focuses on how to grasp and hold power, and offers advice on what worked and what did not work in advancing a political career. For example, Machiavelli states “A man who is made prince by the favour of the people must work to retain their friendship; and this is easy for him because the people ask only not to be oppressed. But a man who has become prince against the will of the people and by the favour of the nobles should, before anything else, try to win the people over; this too is easy if he takes them under his protection… it is necessary for a prince to have the friendship of the people; otherwise he has no remedy in times of adversity.”
Machiavelli was nicknamed “Old Nick,” another name for Satan, and the Jesuits called him “the Devil’s partner in crime.” While reading The Prince, I was often very shocked because some sections are very dark. However, once you get past that, it is filled with many parallels and contrasts to today. If you dig beneath the surface of what he is saying, the information can be transported to our time and used. For example, “As for intellectual training, the prince must read history, studying the actions of eminent men to see how they conducted themselves during war and to discover the reasons for their victories or their defeats, so that he can avoid the latter and imitate the former. Above all, he must read history so that he can do what eminent men have done before him….” We could make this more relevant to us by interpreting it to mean that we must read history and study the actions of successful men and women to discover the reasons for their successes and failures to imitate their successes.
Machiavelli’s political thesis can be summed up as “I also believe that the man who adapts his policy to the times prospers, and likewise that the one whose policy clashes with the demands of the times does not.”

The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli: Five +2 Great Ideas

  1. When trouble is sensed well in advance, it can easily be remedied; if you wait for it to show itself, any medicine will be too late because the disease will have become incurable. This means prevention is better than cure.
  2. Men willingly change their ruler expecting to fare better. That’s why we have political parties.
  3. When states are acquired in a province differing in language, in customs, and in institutions, then difficulties arise; and to hold them one must be very fortunate and very assiduous. One of the best, most effective expedients would be for the conqueror to go live there in person. This course of action would make a new possession more secure and more permanent.
  4. Whoever is responsible for another’s becoming powerful ruins himself, because this power is brought into being either by ingenuity or by force, and both of these are suspect to the one who has become powerful.
  5. Governments set up overnight, like everything in nature whose growth is forced, lack strong roots and ramifications. So they are destroyed in the first bad spell.
  6. A man who becomes a prince with the help of the nobles finds it more difficult to maintain his position than one who does so with the help of the people. As prince, he finds himself surrounded by many who believe they are his equals, and because of that he cannot command or manage them the way he wants
  7. Prosperity is ephemeral; if a man behaves with patience and circumspection, and the time and circumstances are right, he will prosper, however, if circumstances change and he doesn’t adapt his policy to reflect the change, he will be ruined.

Conclusion: The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli

I recommend that you read The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli just to see how far, and sometimes not so far, that we’ve come. After you have read The Prince, what parallels can you make to events occurring in our world today? What are your great ideas?

Worth a read! 😊

Many hundreds of years ago in a small Italian town, a merchant had the misfortune of owing a large sum of money to the moneylender. The moneylender, who was old and ugly, fancied the merchant’s beautiful daughter so he proposed a bargain. He said he would forgo the merchant’s debt if he could marry the daughter. Both the merchant and his daughter were horrified by the proposal.

The moneylender told them that he would put a black pebble and a white pebble into an empty bag. The girl would then have to pick one pebble from the bag.If she picked the black pebble, she would become the moneylender’s wife and her father’s debt would be forgiven. If she picked the white pebble she need not marry him and her father’s debt would still be forgiven. But if she refused to pick a pebble, her father would be thrown into jail.

They were standing on a pebble strewn path in the merchant’s garden. As they talked, the moneylender bent over to pick up two pebbles. As he picked them up, the sharp-eyed girl noticed that he had picked up two black pebbles and put them into the bag. He then asked the girl to pick her pebble from the bag.

What would you have done if you were the girl? If you had to advise her, what would you have told her? Careful analysis would produce three possibilities:

1. The girl should refuse to take a pebble.

2. The girl should show that there were two black pebbles in the bag and expose the moneylender as a cheat.

3. The girl should pick a black pebble and sacrifice herself in order to save her father from his debt and imprisonment.

The above story is used with the hope that it will make us appreciate the difference between lateral and logical thinking.

The girl put her hand into the moneybag and drew out a pebble. Without looking at it, she fumbled and let it fall onto the pebble-strewn path where it immediately became lost among all the other pebbles.

“Oh, how clumsy of me,” she said. “But never mind, if you look into the bag for the one that is left, you will be able to tell which pebble I picked.” Since the remaining pebble is black, it must be assumed that she had picked the white one. And since the moneylender dared not admit his dishonesty, the girl changed what seemed an impossible situation into an advantageous one.

MORAL OF THE STORY:
Most complex problems do have a solution, sometimes we have to think about them in a different way.
